Andy Anderson legally changed his name to Pro-Life Andy in 1987 as "a positive
statement for life." His hands are covered in tattoos proclaiming "God is Pro-Life," and
he has been arrested 11 times for obstructing public access to abortion clinics. He says
Pope John Paul II's stand on contraception issues is the right one.
"I want to thank him for being the most fantastic, courageous man in the world, for defending
human rights against the pro-choice abortion mentality... the only time anyone uses the term
pro-choice is to kill babies. It's just a deceptive term to make it sound easy to do something
terrible.
"The Catholic Church does permit birth control in a natural manner. It's not against birth control,
it's against [unnatural] birth control. It's like eating and sticking the food in your ear. It's not the
way that God intended.
"You judge the Church by people like Mother Teresa and the Pope, who put their religion into
practice and don't defy it. If people defy it, they should stop calling themselves Catholic."
